English Learner Support

Welcome! Information for Families of English Learners

When a new student enrolls, their home language survey helps us determine whether they should take the Initial ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California). This test measures a student’s English skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

If the results show that the student is still developing English proficiency, they are classified as an English Learner (EL). This means the school will provide additional support to help the student succeed in both English and academic subjects. Each year, English Learners take the Summative ELPAC to measure their progress. Once a student meets the state criteria, they are reclassified as fluent in English.

🌟 Join Our ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee)!

We invite all families of English Learners to be part of our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)!

ELAC is a group of parents, staff, and community members who meet to:

  • Learn about programs and services that support English Learners

  • Share ideas and give input on how to help students succeed

  • Build connections with other families and our school community

  • Meetings are virtual!

Your voice matters! By joining ELAC, you can help shape decisions that affect your child’s education and support our school in creating the best learning environment for all students.

📅 Meetings are held throughout the year — everyone is welcome to attend!
